He who formerly headed the FCA now heads the BoE.
We can fully expect he will repeat the magnificent job he did whilst in charge of the FCA.
I am hurriedly liquidating my assets and converting all my Sterling into Pork Bellies...........

"Equality" issues are peripheral. Males are far more likely to be the perpetrators of violent and serious crime. It has been thus for many centuries. In particular, young males are far more likely to commit serious crimes/crimes of violence. These are the crimes we predominantly opt to punish with imprisonment. Testosterone and Alpha male considerations. Not only has that been the case for centuries - but it is universal around the world. Even in regime's with a particular disregard for womens rights, incarceration rates for females are much lower than for men, even if the rate of female incarceration is higher than western societies. Very difficult to square that with 'inequality' as the cause. There are of course some edge cases of females avoiding jail sentences because of having young children. But in the big picture, I suspect its impact is marginal. A rare occasion I agree with you and disagree with the Right Honourable Sir Ozyboy. You missed all the rape, and sexual crime including against children are almost exclusively men. I don't agree with Greenwood2 that they do it because it is "easier for them as they are bigger and stronger." Genitalmen, you have missed a key part of my posting. :- "Females are consistently treated far more leniently than men for similar crimes."

"It also seems inequitable that 96% of the prison population are male and only 4% female. Are men really 24 times more likely to commit an offence that deserves a prison sentence" I suspect you already know the answer @keisha. Females are consistently treated far more leniently than men for similar crimes. Equality, great innit?!

Correct michaelc. As far as the FCA is concerned, you are COMPLETELY on your own and will get NO SUPPORT whatsoever from the FCA if ANYTHING in P2P goes "wrong." And that includes, and is especially true, when the FCA are the CAUSE of the "wrongness." Wonderful "Consumer Protecting" organisation is our FCA ............

What could ever go wrong, an "investment" that is based purely on "confidence" and has zero assets backing it ................ actually sounds like P2P. At least P2P loans had tangible assets, however flaky and overvalued... I didn't know that adrianc, thanks for the heads up .............

Why are SO many Ministers for Xxxxxxxx Department in various western Governments around the world totally unqualified and unsuited for their Ministerial role? You know, like making Diane Abbott Chancellor of the Exchequer .......... Political appointments are the curse of The West, filling VERY important roles with Party Faithful, who often don't have a clue, let alone the required level of grey matter. John Prescott anyone? Don't mean to pick on Labour either, Truss easily fills the slot too ...........

Meghan was financially independent before meeting Harry, salary apparently amounting to an easy $450K+ pa and could do what she liked. What was Harry on/doing again? Pocket money and didn't even have control of his facial hair And he's an adult. 100% responsible for what he says, writes about, does, and has been a loose cannon since way before they met. Arguably his only charm! Infantilizing him by suggesting his wife's accountable for his behaviour and opinions, or suggesting all she could be attracted to in him was cash just makes me confused/laugh/sad for him... She was always going for The Title, and along with it the accompanying Grand Respectability, something money can't buy. But sex can?

I've had every Covid jab going, both types, including the boosters. Plus the Flu jab every year too without fail. Never had so much as a sniffle let alone Covid in over six years now and have never had a sore arm either after any of the jabs. When I visit my Quack I always enquire what might be the latest preventative jab available free to me on the NHS, I'm mad for it. Just call me Lucky? PS / eg - I was MOST pleased to learn I became eligible for the Shingles jab, well I went for it immediately. Of course.

No wonder P2P is such a cesspit ............Police ‘not interested in prosecuting fraud’, deputy High Court judge saysThe barrister spoke about the decline in prosecuting the crime since the 90s, saying ‘fraud just isn’t that exciting’ According to a deputy High Court judge, “99 per cent” of crimes perpetuated by “professional fraudsters” are not being investigated (Andrew Milligan/PA) / PA WireBy Alana Calvert Police in the UK have lost interest in catching scammers and fraudsters, according to deputy High Court judge Clare Montgomery. The leading barrister, who is also a recorder of the Crown Court, said “99 per cent” of crimes perpetuated by “professional fraudsters” were not being investigated, with even less being prosecuted. In the law and politics podcast Double Jeopardy, Ms Montgomery told hosts Ken Macdonald and Tim Owen there had been a decline in interest in prosecuting fraud since the 90s. “Fraud just isn’t that exciting and, insofar as it has excited any interest, it’s mainly at the margins – in areas like proceeds of crime in relation to sanctions; or in relation to occasionally providing assistance to foreign governments,” she said. “All of that does get attention, and some sort of resources at the investigative level. But in terms of actually having police officers interested in fraud, it has been subject to a decline now where I don’t believe they have any interest in prosecuting fraud anywhere. “The sort of localism that’s been introduced by crime commissioners directing activities by local forces has reinforced that. So now, fraud is absolutely at the bottom of anyone’s agenda.”“You get the occasional show trial in that area. But the reality is that 99 per cent of fraud at that level is not even investigated, still less prosecuted,” she said. The barrister at Matrix Chambers added that she was not saying “nothing is happening”, but rather “nothing of any substance is happening that would actually deter a professional fraudster or even somebody willing to do dishonest things in the course of business – not necessarily because they’ve set out to be a criminal, but because they’re sufficiently selfish and self-interested not to care about the rights of others”. Ms Montgomery went on to say the burden was heaviest on those who could not afford to sue for damages. www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/po...50894.html
