And this morning through the letterbox drops a leaflet for a consultation on a proposed 3rd windfarm again within 2 miles of my house I feel your pain. As much as I k ow we need to ge independent for energy, I get the feeling politicians are pushing through planning without considering any relevant objections. Our 90000 solar panel project is back on the table. Swap you it for your turbines anyway.

You are so lucky, we are going to need every kWhr we can get, especially once the Russian navy starts shelling the sea born ones

nope I oppose it the 2 farms already proposed, will each provide enough power for the whole county, they need to look at building the farms where the power is used, ie in and around the cities

Really fail to understand your complaining here. Might help to offset the benefit mentality you keep telling us about. You should rejoice......

I have seen reasonably unobtrusive solar farms prob not on the scale above hidden behind hedges next to major roads and find wind turbines quite elegant but there are very few around here and none of the new monster size. Given we are being pushed to accept a huge rubbish incinerator/ generation plant at the bottom of the cliff, the outlet of the chimney being level with the majority of housing on the island of Portland .Give me either of the two former options anytime.

I make that about 1.5m pop'n just in those three cities.

yes generation in and around those cities would be better.
laughing though one of my Councillors has been very pro the turbines, suddenly a change of mind and "we have too many etc etc" The reason is simple the new farm will be visible from his property.

The shorter the distance between generation and consumption the less the transmission loses.

The shorter the distance between generation and consumption the less the transmission loses. Yep. That's why they're sited close to the major cities. Why they're being put where you are, near to three cities. Or are you suggesting that 20-30 miles isn't near?

Everyone wanted good reception, but nobody wanted a tower near their house (even the towers that had leaves stuck to the outside so that they looked like trees).
