I have seen reasonably unobtrusive solar farms prob not on the scale above hidden behind hedges next to major roads and find wind turbines quite elegant but there are very few around here and none of the new monster size. Given we are being pushed to accept a huge rubbish incinerator/ generation plant at the bottom of the cliff, the outlet of the chimney being level with the majority of housing on the island of Portland .Give me either of the two former options anytime. Possible revisualising one of these comments
"Given that we are being forced to consume more packaging and single use materials we need more incinerators"

1 Having been a member of a BT rigging team for a few years, we had to put a microwave radio dish up on one of those artificial tree comms masts in the new forest. Well we could not find the bloody thing, to well disguised, had to get a local to show it to us. Not the best or safest things to work on, in fact I think some designs we were stopped from climbing in the end. 2 Since Tesco started taking back our film type plastic packing our landfill waste has reduced to near nothing. Of course the proposed incinerator is all about material bought in by ship to the immediately adjacent port facility, not local in any way. It may not even come from the uk, who knows .

In addition to this week's recycling, I added a metal biscuit tin that has been hanging around after being emptied.
It didn't have any recycling marks on it which, given its likely age, is probably about right. But a tin is a tin, isn't it?
No, it isn't. I got the death tag; "you have included something that is not recyclable. Don't do it again."
Bemused...

Bemused... MW LOL probably the metal is too thick I had that with some stuff I put out to recycle "its too thick for the machinery" Our lot won't take the clothes hangers with a metal hook and a plastic body

Well was interesting
Local MP says that only 1 or 2 of the proposed 3 farms will be allowed.
This farm is on common land and they need the agreement of the commoners
Again they are proposing using huge amounts of concrete to make pads for the cranes etc, when I pointed out that elsewhere they use borrow pits and have stone pads which are then turfed over they seemed bemused by the idea.
however they are open to community ownership, and even giving part of a turbine to the local council.
one of the other 2 sites has hit issues, a local has found a map showing the area riddled with coal mines in the 18/19 century, Lol the answer from the environment guy from the company was brilliant, if we find a void we will drill down and pump it full of concrete, very environmentally friendly not.

So the final date for comments was 2 weeks ago, 2 days after that date I get an email saying the developer has submitted a change to the wording. Basically the change removes the height etc restrictions. I replied and said surely this needs to be consulted on as people were mostly happy as the turbines would not be visible and now they will. The response from PEDW the inspector has agreed this with the developer ( brown envelope anyone ) and no consultation is needed, and we will not pass any comments to the inspector.
So I mail my Councillors and get a response saying the Council have had the same email, and as they are "a consultee" they have had the same comment from PEDW. he also adds this is the third time to his knowledge this developer has done the same thing.
So as I see it from now on the best way to deal with this developer is to just object to everything they propose.

They've alienated all the nearby residents to such an extent that the minute a planning notice drops through our letterboxes fifty plus comments / complaints are submitted. Luckily last year I noticed bats in the area (I did, honest!).
